Mission Statement:
The Office of the City Secretary is dedicated to providing support to the City Council, managing and preserving all the official City records, and providing information to the public as required by Law in a manner that values integrity, honesty, and trust.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The City Secretary is the official “Custodian of Records” and is responsible for managing the legislative history of the City and maintaining, disposing, and preserving official City documents and records in accordance with legal requirements.  The City Secretary serves as the City’s Election Official and, in compliance with the Texas Elections Code, administers all municipal elections and performs oaths of office for elected and appointed officials.

The City Secretary is also responsible for: 
  • Overseeing the corporate seal
  • Publishing and posting agendas for all City Council meetings
  • Compiling written minutes of official meetings of the City Council
  • Publishing and posting all legal notices
  • Attesting the Mayor’s signature on all official documents
  • Receives and maintains all official City documents such as ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, and deeds.
