Here are options available to defendants:
1. Plea of Guilty: with a plea of guilty, you are admitting guilt and waiving your right to a trial. You are agreeing to commit to "paying" the citation. This may be in the form of actual payment (cash, money order or debit/credit for a 3% fee - no personal checks accepted), community service (through agreement with the judge), jail time served (by the judge's decision), driving safety course dismissal, deferred disposition dismissal.
2. Plea of No Contest: with a plea of no contest, you are not admitting guilt but are waiving your right to a trial.
3. Not Guilty: with a plea of not guilty, you are contesting the charge against you and requesting a trial either by judge or by jury. When choosing this option, a pre-trial will be scheduled for you in the near future to meet with the city attorney to see if an arrangement can be agreed upon. If no arrangement is satisfactory, then a trial will be scheduled in the future.
If you have questions regarding these options, please contact the municipal court at (512) 898-5395.
The court accepts the following forms of payment: cash, money order, credit/debit card for a 3% fee, and online payments through Traffic Payment for a fee. The court does NOT accept personal checks under any circumstance.
